Light vs. Dark

When Eszter Rabin, creator of Sidai Designs, needed some images for her latest collection Angie called on stylist Kiersten Stevens to help with this fun shoot. They dabbled with a bright, colorful palette and a darker, more sophisticated look to showcase these beaded beauties. We still can’t decide which is our favorite. What’s yours?

American Craft

This months issue of American Craft Magazine has a few photos that Angie recently had the privilege of shooting. Erin Cullerton, of Design Agency Co, contacted her to photograph some of the winning designers of this years American Craft Council San Francisco show.  These designers got to create their perfect space to be featured at the show and in the magazine.

Who doesn’t love a vibrant Summer, especially if you can smell it or eat it? Combining colorful, fragrant flowers and delectable macarons, Angie and Kiana of Tulipina worked together to create this sensory collage of color. Grab your sunglasses…it’s going to be a bright sunshiny day!

50 Best Plants on the Planet” book finally came out. We’re so excited! It’s packed with 150 simple yet luscious recipes, and beautifully photographed by Angie! It’s not a diet book, per se. More of a guide to packing the most good stuff into every bite in a scrumptious way.

Think you don’t like Brussels sprouts? Think again.

Try pan-searing them in a little butter and EVOO, let them caramelized, add some pistachios and dried cherries. Delish! You’re gonna be a believer.

Chronicle Books just released Rosette Art, an adorable kit for crafting rosettes for all sorts of celebratory occasions.  There’s even a set of instructions for making rosettes for your prize-winning pets!  Oh, you don’t have a pet that regularly wins agility competitions or competes in dog shows?  Boost his self-esteem by making him a ribbon to honor his daily efforts: Best Sloppy Smooch?

The book is full of cute ideas photographed by Angie, so take a look at your local bookstore.

Things we love: spring flowers, bright spaces, and SF Girl By Bay

Angie, Victoria Smith, and Kiana Underwood (of Tulipina fame) got together to create a little springtime floral magic for Victoria’s blog sfgirlbybay.   The result is a perfect combination of bright colors, cute-as-can-be flower arrangements, and clean interior decor.  Take a look at Angie’s photos on the blog, and join our flower frenzy!

Spring is almost here!  We’re tossing flowers in the air like confetti and pulling our finest pair of bermuda shorts out of storage to celebrate warmer days.  We’re also celebrating the new March issue of Yoga Journal, where you can find some spring recipes that Angie recently shot.  Pick up an issue, make a green smoothie, and join us in welcoming spring back into our open arms.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Angie and Kiana of Tulipina worked together to create some beautiful photos for Ruffled, a popular blog for sourcing unique wedding inspiration.  This Valentine’s Day Flower Guide is full of pink and red pretties that are artfully arranged to make hearts flutter.

In addition to taking photos of beautiful calligraphy for Click Magazine’s January/February issue, Angie was also asked to share one of her favorite comfort food recipes.  Combining her sweet tooth with Mexican fare felt like a no-brainer, so she photographed and wrote about her mother’s arroz con leche recipe.  It’s a simple recipe that carries with it a heavy dose of childhood nostalgia for Angie, so we hope you give it a try and find yourself pleased.  It’s the perfect dessert to warm up these chilly winter nights.

Have you checked out Click Magazine yet?  Click is a division of PDN that focuses on women in photography, and Angie has been working with them on their recent issue to bring some of her pretty photos to its pages.  In the January/February 2013 issue, Angie collaborated with calligraphist extraordinaire Maybelle to create this call-to-action to encourage readers to enter their love-inspired photo contest.

Looking at this photo makes us remember the good ol’ days of passing notes in grade school, long distance pen pals, and handwritten love notes on carefully-chosen stationary. When was the last time you wrote a meaningful letter or note by hand?  When was the last time you dotted every i with little hearts and folded paper with the concentration and precision of an origami artist?

New Year’s resolutions may not be your cup of tea, but we think that secret note-passing and pretty handwriting should make a comeback in 2013.

Summer may officially be a thing of the past, but that doesn’t mean we can’t cling to our summer state of mind with fun pastel colors and sweet treats.  Angie worked with prop stylist Jesse Silver to bring cheery colors and contemporary energy to her recent editorial shoot, and the photos look positively perfect.  We enjoyed having Jesse in the studio because she’s a stellar prop stylist, but we probably would have asked her to visit just so we could hear about her life as a houseboat resident.  Even talking about houseboats make us feel like summer is still pumping through our veins.

If we keep shooting jobs like this, it can be summer all year…right?

Pretty Paper Parties

Late last year Angie photographed the cover for Pretty Paper Parties by Chronicle Books, and we were excited to see it popping up all over the place in local gift shops and bookstores.  Seeing our hard work out in the world always puts an extra spring in our step, but it’s particularly rewarding when it’s a project as beautiful as this.

Stop by your local bookstore and take look for yourself, or read more about Pretty Paper Parties on Chronicle’s website.
